Position: Account Director
Reporting to: Business Unit Director

Role:
To fulfil the role of Account Director within Havas Sports & Entertainment South Africa.
Carry out the key areas of activations, events, public relations, media content, digital entertainment, client service, rights owners liaison, finance, client support and human resources.
Working with the Business Unit Director (BUD), the Account Director (AD) needs to develop a clear understanding of the client’s strategic objectives, business outcomes and activation requirements, together with a detailed understanding of the business’s operational capabilities in order to contribute towards strategic, business and operational solutions that meets the client’s needs and objectives.
To liaise with and manage relationships with designated client contacts on a managerial and operational day to day basis as agreed with the MD and BUD

Key Responsibilities:
– To interpret client requirements and produce response to brief, operational plans, roll out plans and amendments to existing campaign activations in line with the company process and procedure
– Provide BUD with proactive creative and strategic solutions / changes / enhancements / efficiencies that support the clients and business objectives
– Monitor and review the status of ongoing projects and communicate effectively and timeously, internally and externally (if required), to keep client and management informed of any information that may impact on business result
– In conjunction with the BUD ensure that all persons involved in the project have an up to date and accurate understanding of client objectives, targets and/or measurements of success
– To manage client expectations and advise on timescales, limitations and internal constraints
– To produce timely, accurate client project reports, ensuring detail meets specified requirements
– To produce quarterly strategic reports, including recommendations, on client base managed, ensuring detail meets specified requirements
– To manage the flow of data between the business and clients / 3rd parties ensuring that this meets data protection legislation and company standards

Accountabilities:
– Establish and monitor internal and external control procedures with clients, suppliers, right owners and partners
– Conceptualising, strategising and creating project plans or collaborating to the creation thereof
– To analyse trends in project results and provide reports to the MD/BUD on insight obtained with recommendations
– Be an ambassador of knowledge
– Be primary owner and coordinator of all campaign reporting, ensuring procedures and process maps are fully updated and accessible to all
– To represent and promote the business internally and externally
– Work with colleagues to support the business requirements, maximising the profit contribution
– Providing financial accuracy and controls in all client service related duties taking ownership and accountability in managing budgets on behalf of client. Delivering on RTV/IVE objectives
– Work within company standards, guidelines and statutory requirements
– To treat all dealings around projects, budgets, client relationships and any other internal business matters with utmost respect and confidentiality

Minimum requirements:
Skills
– Communicator – The Account Director needs to be in constant communication with its internal and external clients. Ensuring that the client understands exactly what is happening with each of the activations and campaigns at the time it is relevant.
– Passionate and energetic implementer – To develop a plan for each activation that needs to be effectively implemented to ensure maximum return on investment based on the clients marketing / sponsorship objectives
– Management and Planning – Implement the necessary management techniques and planning tools to ensure that all responsibilities are met 100% in the most effective and efficient manner
– Relationship Builder – To actively and pro-actively manage and build the relationship with the internal and external client
– Financial Controller – To consciously manage the financial elements of your responsibility with the necessary understanding of the policies and procedures, the processes and the understanding of the risk should any anomalies arise. To pro-actively assist with the resolving of financial issues that occur from time to time
– Strategist – to analyse, understand and create strategies relevant to client and client objectives and make recommendations where required
– Disciplined – To demonstrate the discipline required to manage the various activations, sponsorships and events and to adhere to the company policies and procedures to the benefit of all
– Administrator – To develop and work within an administrative system that results in an orderly office environment
Experience
– At least 5 years work experience in the events, activations and/or sponsorship industry
Qualifications
– Matric as a minimum
– Tertiary education preferred
